Over 200 cultural heritage sites at risk: study
Green business News - Oct. 19 - A new report says that Approximately 200 of the world's most significant cultural heritage sites could be severely damaged or lost which would cost developing nations over $100 billion in lost revenue.
Jeff Morgan, the executive director the Global Heritage Fund said that these are magnificent, precious cultural sites. If something is not done it would lost its value forever, it would be a tragic loss.
He believes the destruction of cultural sites did not get serious attention from organizations such as UNESCO, the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
The report rated the 200 sites as at risk, under threat and on the edge that is the most serious for developing countries, these are missing out on billions of dollars in tourism revenue and jobs by neglecting cultural heritage sites.
Other most dying out sites are in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Kenya, Pakistan and the Philippines.
He added the lack of attention given to cultural heritage sites, poor organization and public relations failure are serious issues to be solved.
